Priced dropped to sell- best value out there - valued recently by Maserati specialists at £16,750 PISTONHEADS writes: ● 4.7 litre V8 rated at 435hp ● Six-pot Brembo brakes and Skyhook adaptive dampers ● Extensive history Introduced in 2003, the fifth generation of Maserati’s luxury saloon, the imaginatively titled Quattroporte (“four door”) was particularly notable for hosting a 4.2-litre V8 engine that was co-developed with Ferrari. A facelift in 2008 introduced the S variant that we see here, with an enlarged 4.7-litre V8 which produced 435hp. This later car also ditched the automated manual gearbox of the early variants in favour of a more traditional (and reliable) six-speed ZF automatic. With six-pot Brembo brakes and Skyhook adaptive damping, this luxury car comes with sporting credentials and is surely a more glamorous and engaging alternative to the kind of Germanic executive express that one could consider; in Nero Carbonio black, with attractive 20-inch alloys, it still cuts a dash in a way that its contemporaries would struggle to these days. While it’s true that there are a few cosmetic blemishes consistent with age, the folder of invoices shows plenty of evidence of the oily bits being looked after.
