With us here at RFH Classics is this lovely example of a 1978 (S) MGB GT presented in the popular Damask Red and features a very nice Grey leather interior that has been edged to match the exterior of the car. A look through the accompanying paperwork for the car shows it was extensively restored in 2004 by a well known restorer and included the use of a new heritage shell which clearly explains why it is such a lovely condition both inside and out and has excellent panel gaps. We have spoken the company who undertook the restoration and this car from them today costs close to 30k. In the office we have the build sheets for the work undertaken along with the receipt for nearly 14k from 2004 confirming the work that was done. Since arriving with us the car has undergone an extensive cleaning process that includes professional paint polishing and an in depth interior clean, the results are evident in the pictures. The interior being trimmed in the soft Grey leather really helps set it apart and looks incredibly good when you open the doors. Under the bonnet presents equally as good as the exterior. Engine wise the 1798cc 4 cylinder petrol engine shows to have done just over 97k and is paired to four speed manual gearbox that features Overdrive to 3rd and 4th gears which helps to reduce the revs and improve the fuel consumption. The engine is running on unleaded and starts on the first turn of the key, a quick check of the gauges shows the car has great oil pressure both when cold and at normal operating temperature. We have given the car a good run now and can confirm it drives perfectly. The history file for the car contains a good selection of service and other invoices relating to work over the years along with MOT tests back as far as 2003. The GT is one of those popular classics that offers 2+2 seating and features styling from Pininfarina. For sure this car, with its extensive rebuild history, is going to be someone pride and joy very soon. The previous owner purchased the car over 18 years ago but has taken the reluctant decision to sell after recently acquiring a camper van and not finding time to enjoy both. This beautiful car has been the subject of an older extensive restoration with excellent panel gaps and clearly been very well looked after. When I collected the car from the previous owner he told me the car had never been out in the rain over the past 18 years and looking at you can see that to be true. As part of our preparation the paintwork has professionally detailed and has a lovely deep shine. The chrome work, as you can see in the pictures, is also in excellent condition and is finished off by the addition of the boot rack fitted, perfect for Sunday afternoon picnic. This car features the detachable hood that appears to be virtually new and for daily use there is a full tonneau cover for cabin protection., Internally the trim is Black Leather with a complimenting Red Piping and the seat, like the rest of the cabin, are in exceptional condition, As the car has the detachable roof there is space behind the seats should you have a small dog you would like to take out with you. Under the bonnet the engine bay is probably one of the best we have recently seen and the 1800cc engine paired to a 4 speed manual gearbox with Overdrive is running lead free. Start tit up and the oil pressure is excellent both cold and hot and it drives very well. In the office we have a file containing the photographic record of the restoration along with a large selection of invoices for work undertaken over the year.
